Real-life best friends Ruth Syratt and Megan Stevenson run a vintage bric-a-brac shop in Muswell Hill, London. Stumbling across a time machine, they embark on trips to the past to stock their emporium with quirky artefacts with no idea of the irreparable damage they're causing to the fabric of the universe. After one excursion too many, an interdimensional fissure appears and Ruth must free Megan from The Unreason, a monstrous netherworld where a convoluted game is played for all eternity.

Phil Hoad Guardian If the resulting low-budget assemblage still bears these nametags and has the odd stray thread showing, it also has a persistent charm of its own. Rated: 4/5 Apr 15, 2025 Full Review Kimberley Jones Austin Chronicle The Eighties aesthetic runs throughout, and spiritually, Time Travel Is Dangerous! is something of an 8-bit charmer, full of practical effects and the anything-goes wackiness that engined action-comedies of the era. Oct 28, 2024 Full Review Zach Youngs InSession Film The strange, wonderful clips of Ralph and Robert’s show save some of it and the folks in T.E.S.T.I.S. save some more, but all in all it’s a bit of a shrug. Rated: C Oct 3, 2025 Full Review Ruth Maramis FlixChatter Film Blog A zany time-traveling sci-fi comedy inspired by a real vintage shop and its owners, its low-budget vibe and quirky campiness add to its charm. A fun diversion from mainstream cinema. Rated: 3/5 Sep 30, 2025 Full Review Heidi Krull MovieJawn The direction of Chris Reading, along with the comedy genius of the Shakespeare Sisters, came together for a hilarious, exciting, and nerve-wracking adventure that made me question my beliefs on what a sci-fi movie is supposed to be. Aug 29, 2025 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com Both Syratt and Stevenson are sublimely cast with impressive comic sensibility and the ability to lean into the wackiness of it all without going too far overboard. K R Absolutely loved this film! Such a unique and fun storyline that also pays homage to North London, which is close to my heart. The imagination, creativity and love that has gone into this film is obvious to see. This sharp and witty script combined with some of the UK's most beloved actors - as well as two fabulous newcomers in the lead roles - make this an absolute must-see! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/07/25 Full Review Robbie E Quintessential British comedy, packed with jokes and fun gadgets. Good fun!! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/02/25 Full Review Lloyd C Perfect viewing for fans of great British comedy. An indie production with a great cast and an abundance of heart, passion and laughs. Ruth Syratt’s performance is phenomenal, especially considering she genuinely runs a shop and this is her first feature. She does not look out of place with the rest of the talent. I’m sure she will appear in more things after this. I really do hope this film gets a blur ray release! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/29/25 Full Review nicola b A great film really enjoyed it. Creative quirky and fun it had me in stitches laughing. Highly recommended Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/28/25 Full Review Carolina B A corker of a film! I loved this original and wacky story, and I felt it had themes in it that felt quite universal (friendship dynamics in particular). It had some fun tributes to film makers in it within too, and it was lovely to see a local's view of its location too. I went to see it in the Muswell Hill cinema after reading a Guardina review about it, and really enjoyed location-spotting afterwards, including going to the real life shop! The minds behind this are ones to watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/12/25 Full Review Tracy T So charming. Pitch perfect. Love the 80s tech and music. Wonderful mockumentary on screwing around with time travel. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/24/25 Full Review Read all reviews
