Timestalker follows hapless heroine Agnes through time as she repeatedly falls for the wrong guy, dies a grim death, gets reincarnated a century later, before meeting him again and starting the cycle anew. It is one story told over many periods, all with the messy thrills and spills that come with daring to follow your heart. Or maybe your loins... Agnes’ only hope in avoiding this violent fate is by finally reaching spiritual enlightenment; but how can she ever wise up when she’s destined to be a fool for love? A truly weird movie, and I appreciate that. The concept is fun, the cast is excellent, and there's lots of comically grotesque death scenes. Something about it feels slightly unfinished or like it's missing something, but it's a brief and entertaining ride with some very funny moments. It's got a fair amount to say about human behavior and the inevitability of bad decision-making, though it never goes fully morose. Not like anything I've watched recently, which earns it points.

On paper I should have loved this one, but it really fell flat for me. Visually it's beautiful. Some brilliant, whacky turns of phrase (the syphilis gags), but very very condescending in it's message in the end. And why shouldn't it be, it's a fable, so it's got to have a moral and anyone moralizing in 2024 is bound to be condescending.

Truly a terrible film. I had hope it would be funny and oddball, but it was just a mess. The storyline makes no sense, the acting isn't even subpar, and it lacks any kind of substance, all together. Seriously, I think you might need to be under the influence to enjoy it, but even then, you wouldn't be able to understand it. I'd like those 88 minutes added back to my life, please.

A cool concept but it came off like a cheap fever dream. Not particularly bad but I just wasn't as captivated as I problem should have been. There was a lack of charisma, specially from this guy she was chasing.

In the middle ages, a woman (Alice Lowe) becomes enamored with the wrong guy. She is reincarnated throughout the ages only to encounter him again and again. Albeit rough in spots, this is a hidden gem. This is triple threat Lowe's sophomore effort after directing/writing/acting in Prevenge. It's a smart experiment focused on feminism with humor that hits often enough to save the film from too much silliness.
