Bob Thomas Associated Press It is a charmer from tee-off to final putt. Aug 7, 2019 Full Review David Ansen Newsweek The good news about the amiable but only partly satisfying Tin Cup is that it frees Kevin Costner from playing a monument and restores to us the loose, sparkling comic actor he used to be. Feb 27, 2018 Full Review Richard Schickel TIME Magazine As he always does in comedy, Costner grants an irresistible gleam of gallantry to male mulishness. Aug 5, 2008 Full Review Akos Peterbencze Vulnerable Man (Medium) Costner’s childish charm and Shelton’s devotion to sports turn this overlong feature into an absolute joy. Jul 21, 2023 Full Review James Croot Stuff.co.nz Watch for the sometimes outrageous golf action, stay for the magnificent banter and sizzling chemistry. Rated: 4.5/5 Aug 30, 2021 Full Review Danielle Solzman Solzy at the Movies Tin Cup might not be a classic in the way that Bull Durham was but it still works as a sports rom-com even if the film is slightly long. Blu B A Sports Movie Classic. It's a Romance & a Sports Drama together. The first half isn't bad but man the biggest problem this has is it takes forever to get to the point sometimes. There are lots of scenes especially any with Russo & Costner together where the dailouge and whole interaction just meanders and takes way longer than it needs to to get to the point. This is a 1 Hour 47 minute film total probably that has about 30 minutes of extra length that could be cut and nothing would be lost. Most of that issue though is in the first half. The second half especially the final 30 minutes or so of golf is the best part and is well done. The golf stuff is more interesting than the romance I think as it's pretty basic stuff seen in a lot of sports films. But golf isn't a sport that you see that often compared to Baseball or Basketball especially. Another issue is the golf stuff is hard to follow if you don't know anything about golf. You do have to know the rules and all a bit or it doesn't make full sense. The acting also isn't bad led by Costner who is great the entire time as a likeable down on his luck hard headed charming slacker. Everyone else is decent or just alright though. Everything else though is good enough I'd say. The whole uS Open ending really is where the film finds it's stride and focuses on the best part. It's message of people remember the risk takers not the sticks in the mud can get a little lost in the meanderment and not knowing the exact rules but it works overall and it's subject matter is rpetty unique as well which helps set it apart. Anyone who is a big sports film fan, golf fan, or fan of any actors in this should check this out. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/29/25 Full Review Cinephemeride a film that I really like because it promotes the beauty of the moment rather than the final goal. Jubilant, funny, exciting Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/17/23 Full Review Cinephemeride S I love this film because it encourages the beauty of an act rather than its finality, the beauty of the moment. A very underrated film Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/17/23 Full Review Audience Member How is this score so low? Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/21/22 Full Review Sergio C Fun entertaining and well acted.
