Filmmaker Pepe Danquart gives us a portrait of Alexander and Thomas Huber, two obsessive mountain climbers. Not content with climbing steep, treacherous mountainsides in a careful way, the brothers strive to break speed records. As they race recklessly up the rocky cliffs, their sibling rivalry emerges. The suicidal daring does not stop with the Hubers, however, as Danquart films the brothers pursuing their extreme hobby as he too dangles from the frightening heights.

Hank Shteamer Time Out Rated: 3/5 Nov 17, 2011 Full Review Walter V. Addiego San Francisco Chronicle Director Pepe Danquart and his cinematographers give us lots of splendid mountainscapes, but more importantly, they put the cameras right there with the climbers; we see, up close, every strained muscle and grimace. Audience Member How much abuse can the human frame endure while being beautifully scored and shot? Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member I feel like this documentary had so much potential that it just failed to capture. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Great climbing doc. Amazing footage of Yosemite and some great shots high up on El Cap. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member The Huber brothers try to break a speed climbing record. The goal - climb the Nose route up El Capitan, a 3000 foot (nearly 1 mile), vertical rock formation in Yosemite National Park - in under 3 hours! Incredible how these two find places on the wall to grip with their hands and feet. And how they are able to hang from the overhanging rocks at incredible heights - using just the tips of their fingers of a single hand. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member This is definitely one IMax movie that will take your breath away and leave you in awe. I saw it at the Fleet museum in San Diego where the dome theater is one of the best anywhere. Truly an awesome experience. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Death defying cinematography. Nerves and steel and insane levels of determination - if you've even got a passing interest in climbing this is worth watching Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews
