John Doyle Globe and Mail Made with astonishingly erotic visual aplomb and a devotion to deadpan humour that's admirable, it's a mind-blowing journey, not for the faint of heart. Apr 2, 2020 Full Review David Ehrlich indieWire You may not want to check out. Even in this broken husk of an epic, Sono's maximalist visceral pleasures are enough to result in a pleasant stay. Rated: B- Jul 31, 2018 Full Review Leah Pickett Chicago Reader The latest provocation from Japanese director Sion Sono is an awkward theatrical cut of his nine-episode miniseries for Amazon Prime Japan Oct 19, 2017 Full Review Pieter-Jan Van Haecke Psychocinematography Sion Sono's poetry questions enjoyment and its function within contemporary Japanese society with ultra-violent precision. This is, in other words, Sion Sono at its finest. Nov 30, 2020 Full Review Panos Kotzathanasis Asian Movie Pulse Sono, once more, did the thing that made him a legend among all fans of cult: he let his imagination run wild and depicted it on screen in the most absurd way Oct 6, 2019 Full Review John Tones Espinof 'Tokyo Vampire Hotel' is a fun, almost always disconcerting, but never boring vampire story. Audience Member I'm usually a fan of B movies, but the further into this one I got, the more ridiculous it became. I can see why some people might like it, but I think it's just awful. At first it was fairly interesting, but it slowly devolved into a mess where it seemed like they tried to do anything but focus on an actual plot. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member B級を極めた悪趣味な名作。 日本人の演技メソッドはオーバーアクションな小劇場スタイルだけど、バカバカしくもユーモアのある脚本にはよく似合ってるとあらためて思う。 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member This show is ok. The story is lack luster. I also question some of the design of the show. Some scenes are shot well but it failed to grip me. This show is fine if you don't take it seriously. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Still not convinced it has a plot, but stunningly beautiful and overstimulating in every scene. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Initially unwatchable with empty characters and unfocused plot. Eventually becomes decent if you're not picky. Then devolves into the cartoonish bloodbath that you'd expect from Sion Sono. Good performance by Kaho as an elegant badass. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member If someone stole Tarantino's toilet scrap book, translated it through a google translator and based a movie on the result, it would likely turn out better than this. Just a bunch of random blood and gore with annoying screaming with very weak contest. Factualy wrong things about both Romanian and Japanese cultures, poor acting and it goes on and on and oooooon for 2.5 freaking hours! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Read all reviews
