Mike P Really bad version of the classic adventure story..Featuring bad acting, poor production values and slipshod direction...And totally anachronistic haircuts!!..It's like ABC's TGIF version of the story, produced solely for 13 year old girls...With second rate TV directors, and slapped together by Disney in a week just to make some quick money off the popular Jonathon Taylor Thomas...It's crap...Try the classic 1973 "Tom Sawyer" with Jodie Foster; which has excellent production values and acting; and it stays faithful to the original story. Eric Schweig’s performance as Injun Joe to me is more frightening to me as adult verses being a kid when you have someone very talented playing a crazy killer it helps if they know how to go to that place and find that energy to play someone insane. Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Brad Renfro, Eric Schweig, Mike McShane, Rachel Leigh Cook, Amy Wright, and the rest of the cast did a great job in this movie. This story based on the Mark Twain novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer was entertaining and dramatic. It's about doing what's right to help someone even if it could cost you your life. If you haven't seen this movie yet, check it out sometime. It's worth watching. Don't listen to the bad reviews this movie has gotten. Those people have terrible tastes in movies.
