Audience Member This is an AWESOME movie!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Pretty much for kids, as there's plenty of creative licence put into the story that creates a fair adventure story for Aaron Taylor-Johnson in a dual role, and not a bad kick-ass start to his career. There's way too much overacting here but that's to help emphasise the various points to the young target audience. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Standard family Christmas movie I guess, I've always liked Sean Bean, he's almost a bit part player in this really, very much on the periphery, its unusual to see him in a film where he's not shooting or beating people up! Although there are moments in this where you felt it was about to happen... Its quite nicely worked, as one actor plays the two lead roles, it almost a modern day Oliver Twist in some respects, fairly watchable for a broad audience. Its a lot better than the box office figures would let on. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member very good movie can't believe the two twins in the movie were actually acted by just one boy in real life, thought they were actually identical twins.. Great actor, and smart character differences between the two twins, amazing how they pulled it off. cool storyline, yet highly unrealistic. worth watching though. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member I grew up around Christmas movies; a yearly viewing of Yuletide films ranging from "The Santa Clause" to "The Muppet Christmas Carol" to "Jingle All the Way" to even the little-known "The Christmas Gift" was just as much the tradition around our house as gift exchanging and trimming the tree. Even though it is currently October, I have decided to protest this month and its holiday on the final day by reading books and watching movies that are Christmas-themed, and the first of them is "Tom & Thomas". So, what did I think of it? It was good...but it wasn't great. The plot was engaging, if fantastical in a way that the DVD's back cover synopsis failed to mention. Everyone in the cast did well, though thick British accents made some dialogue hard to understand, especially since the DVD lacked closed captions and subtitles. The video quality was average, but that's to be expected when you have four movies on one single-sided DVD. So, my thoughts? If you can catch this on TV, do so; if not, a rental from your local library would be the best option. "Tom & Thomas" isn't destined to be a classic, and will probably be largely forgotten soon, if it hasn't been already, but it's still mildly enjoyable viewing nonetheless. Content concerns: A scant few profanities, some intense scenes--the worst of which involve lashings and their aftermath and a character being unwillingly sedated--a bit of violence, and a somewhat dark atmosphere make this inappropriate for younger kids. Maybe children under ten would be fine with it, but parents or teachers might want to screen it before showing it to kids. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Such a sweet movie. Very heartwarming! Not very original, but I enjoyed it a lot. Aaron Johnson (whom I didn't even recognize) was pretty great at playing both roles. Such a cute kid. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
