Tara Brady Irish Times The picture is not in the same class as the two previous Woodrell adaptations, but it has unmistakable personality. Rated: 3/5 Mar 2, 2017 Full Review Fionnuala Halligan Screen International A film that's like a lost and wandering tourist, in need of a map, and, ultimately, a fast exit. Feb 26, 2017 Full Review Gwilym Mumford Guardian Ultimately it's a case of all surface, no feeling. Rated: 2/5 Feb 24, 2017 Full Review Hilary A White Sunday Independent (Ireland) Friel, the film's Southern-noir stylings and Wilson's stealthy composition, are the strong cards here. Its two central characters, however, could have done with a bit more narrative purchase for us to hold on to and get behind. Rated: 3/5 Mar 6, 2017 Full Review Paddy Kehoe RTÉ (Ireland) Tomato Red is a strong, engaging film in which Irish director Juanita Wilson manipulates the dramatic elements to engender a keen sense of pathos and despair. Rated: 4/5 Mar 2, 2017 Full Review Cathy Butler Film Ireland Magazine The cast are given the space to make the most of each scene, which they do ably. They are captured along the way by Piers McGrail's captivating cinematography, along with the vast and expansive scenery. Mar 2, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews

KC C Where is this show filmed. I had to put on subtitles. Sounds like a mix of dumb southern and Boomhauer with lines from Gone with the Wind with the backdrop of desert mountains. I'm from the South and this was just hard to understand. Not really sure what the plot was. Cast with zero clue of actual poverty or hards times. I'm not sure what I just watched. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/03/22 Full Review georgan g This is a dramatic documentary about life lived as "poor white trash." The slow moving screenplay is a metaphor for grinding poverty. The characters did what they did because they felt they had no other choice. Good acting, music & cinematography. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Stephanie S Boring and aimless. What a waste of acting talent. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/01/22 Full Review Read all reviews
