Diana Donahue (Judith Light) won't let her son Nick (Rick Schroder) go. When Nick, at age 29, finally decides to leave the family nest, she tries to kill herself. The attempt brings her dutiful son to her hospital bedside, which, ironically, is also where Nick meets nurse Abby Fletcher (Sarah Trigger). Nick and Abby marry, decisively separating the son from his ultra-needy mother -- unless, that is, the psychotic matriarch can get rid of her daughter-in-law permanently.

Cheri M. @RT91795144 1d If you've lived this,it'd hit u differently, there are mothers out there who are exactly like this to their sons girlfriends and there sons and there are true stories out there where mothers of sons will do anything and everything to ruin or stop them from leaving home or having a normal life with a woman. I like this movie because it sure is what happens with mothers like this. I am the girlfriend and I live in our home with my bf and the mother and she is just horrible. I watched this and it made me feel sick cause I know the abuse and the hate from a mother😢 The Manipulation, control, hate, narcissistic craziness and the son who suffers, They're that good, Judith light was perfect 👌 exactly how they act in real life, only the mother would never admit any of it!! It makes me sick and the lying and the acting these mothers do is better then the actress herself. Please, please, bring awareness through this movie. No1 could ever imagine living it. 🥺😖 It's just sad and it's REAL! See more D P @RT45936356 01/20/2022 Lol... Amazon Prime and Tubi really pick up all of the movies that were thrown out. I thought it was all so ridiculous, just to find out it was based on a real story. I thought the justice system was portrayed inaccurately, but I suppose some small town out there does everything backwards. Anyways, it was entertaining at the very least-- the kind of entertainment that keeps you company when you're painting your nails. See more 09/25/2016 Terrible. I have seen high school plays better than this. See more 09/25/2012 Judith Light played a very convincing role. Such a sick story! See more 04/19/2012 Typical Lifetime movie... good cast. Judith Light is always quite good See more 12/07/2009 This is one of those movie that you just love and hate. Judith is such a bitch in this movie but shes awesome. And this movie is soo much like real life, because there are mothers that tend to get way to overprotecting of their children, and are just obsessed with them. Still loved the movie.
