Audience Member pure, sincere and real. It's hard to imagine, but "Art" was main value 30-50 years ago, now we have only market (pathetic and full of fake prophets). Durer was right :If a man devotes himself to art, much evil is avoided that happens otherwise if one is idle. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member A touching documentary on some of the residents of the Casa di Verdi in Milano, a retirement home founded by the great composer Giuseppe Verdi for retired musicians less fortunate than himself. While most of the musicians shown are relatively unknown today, they were prominant international figures back in the 20's - 40's during a time when music was still considered to be a high art form. Younger viewers might despair over a bunch of old folks rambling on about the good old days, but in this case, the days were very good indeed. There's plenty of music involved of course, and while most of the excerpts are of singers well past their prime, there are still a few gems, including former diva Sara Scuderi doing a beautifully expressive impromtu "Vissi d'Arte" for the camera crew. If you love art and music, this is a nice little treat...a look back into a lost age and a lost art... Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Read all reviews
