After the death of his family in a horrific car accident, young Mark Benton (Mark Rendall) goes to live with his aunt, Fiona (Jane Seymour), who studies wild horses on remote Sable Island. A hermit who adheres strictly to the rules that the government imposes on her, Fiona warns Mark against any contact with the horses. However, when a foal loses his mother in a storm, Mark cannot stand by and let it die. While Fiona comes to terms with his actions, Mark forges a relationship with the foal.
