Sheri Linden Los Angeles Times The narrative ... is mere scaffolding for Barta's richly realized world, a kind of hand-hewn 3-D cinema that's testament to the limitlessness of imagination. Rated: 3.5/5 Sep 7, 2012 Full Review Farran Smith Nehme New York Post The movie is passionately retro, but Barta shows his methods can create a world every bit as engrossing as the latest CGI. Rated: 3/4 Sep 7, 2012 Full Review Michael O'Sullivan Washington Post A strange, and not entirely successful, hybrid of a kiddie story and dark, mature themes. Rated: 2/4 Sep 7, 2012 Full Review Frank Swietek One Guy's Opinion Will probably appeal mostly to fans of strange animation like the Quay brothers' efforts, not to regular family audiences. Rated: C Sep 11, 2012 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue It feels like an experimental short subject stretched to feature length. Sep 7, 2012 Full Review John Beifuss Commercial Appeal (Memphis, TN) The pithy American-release title seems intended to suggest a kinship between this film and the Pixar 'Toy Story' series. It might be more helpful to remember that the phrase 'toys in the attic' is a synonym for insanity. Rated: 3/4 Sep 7, 2012 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member The approach the film takes between real life and stop motion— and not just that, but the imagination in general amongst making the actual piece is interesting, but the whole time I still found myself asking "wtf am I watching?.." 3.6/10, D+ Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Full on surrealism. You feel like in a dream the whole time. Crazy and creative but thats it. Because its hard to follow and light on story you won't remember it Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Barely held my attention, it was interesting visually but too artsy for my taste. I wish the dvd would include the original voice performances. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Toys in the Attic Movie Review! There are very little words to describe what I feel after I watch this movie. But if I have to say a few, I'd say: What? Why? The claymation isn't the worst I've seen, but that doesn't stop from many scenes to be uncomfortably odd. There's a slew of genres and meanings that thoroughly just confuse the living hell out of me. This is one of the strangest movies I've seen. And if there's some deeper meaning to this movie, it's very well hidden; encrypted even. It's...odd. Honestly. I can't follow it, I can't ignore it, and what little story is shown here is just plain disturbingly odd. 2 out of 10 (1 star) Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member "Toys in the Attic" presents impressively drawn and crafted visuals and stop-motion animation but the story itself is overall generic, uneven and uninspired. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Very Eastern European and very simplistic. I thought I had been transported back 40 years to my childhood school holiday morning TV.
