Logan L Trace puts a mostly-fresh spin on demon/demonology horror films with an EVP premise. Great acting and directing, engaging story, wild twist at the end that renders “The sixth makes the seventh” coherent, effective jump scares (though there was one that seemed a little corny in my opinion), genuinely creepy atmosphere, plenty of tension, captivating cinematography; pretty much everything you could ask for in a weekend-night-with-a-few-friends horror flick. Is it perfect? No. Is it amazing? If not, then it’s at least approaching the threshold of amazing. I have not been this impressed by a horror film on Tubi in a very long time; a hidden gem for sure. 4/5 stars would definitely recommend. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/20/24 Full Review Audience Member Trace is about a party of twenty-somethings who get on the subject of EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon). The group go to a recording studio ran by some of them and attempt to contact the supernatural after watching a video from a professional EVP expert. It is a pretty by the numbers sort of horror movie with little that stands out. The characters are pretty flat, the acting isn't very engaging and CGI is particularly weak. In fact the CGI from the cold breath to the weirder occurrences probably would have been better left out completely instead of mediocrely done as they were here. That said, Trace isn't awful grading on a horror movie curve. It doesn't pretend to be high-minded, doesn't over stay its welcome or doesn't wallow in abysmal execution. But it also doesn't really try to do anything especially interesting either. Which is probably its biggest sin. There feels like the movie could have done more even with the shoe-string budget with the premise which it never does. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews
