Audience Member A musical comedy with elements of war movies set among tractor drivers of Soviet Union at the dawning of the Second World War. In many ways, this stands today as an awkwardly strange yet bizarrely creative Soviet propaganda film from one of the masters of the kind Pyryev, which amalgamates so many strange styles and dresses them up in working class clothing to suit the time's political fashion. While it may be cheesy and definitely over political, in fact a times it feels like little more than an advertisement promoting the war effort, it is an interesting counterpart to the more commercial glamorous films made in the Western world at the time.
