Too bad it takes its sweet time to get going, cause the first half hour's a tough slough to get through (I've had this movie from Netflix for like five months now). Once it does though, some spooky mystery, surprising deaths and downright shocking gore (there's a reason they kept cutting in that head getting cleaved in two) abounds! I have to say that I wasn't sure what to expect from this one and the film never really felt that it built any particular momentum, which is a shame, as Camille Keaton is easy on the eyes, so one would think they could find a better way to use her. Rental? Maybe? Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member This kind of slow moving, atmosphere based Italian horror worked at lot better when shot in black and white in the sixties. There's something about the grainy color stock used in the early seventies that detracts from gothic horror. The sword through the face thing is cool, I guess. Camille Keaton is stunning as usual, and the DVD has an interview with her that shows she hasn't lost much of her looks.
