      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Its special effects -- and 3D shots -- are undeniably impressive, but they aren't enough to fill up its loud, bloated running time, or mask its thin, indifferent script.

Derek L As I much as I thought Revenge of the Fallen was bad and despite its visual effects, Dark of the Moon did the unthinkable which is that it did even worse with characters that lacked any depth and chemistry and a story that was even more dull and convoluted within its bloated runtime. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/17/24 Full Review Garid B Transformers: Dark Of The Moon is an epic in evert sense of the word. It is easily the darkest and most violent of the Trilogy, but it feels very in-place and not unnecessary. The action and effects are better than ever and the conspiracy at the center of the plot is very intriguing. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/08/24 Full Review Jediah A Honestly Loved the dynamics of the Transformers! I did not mind the human side of things and enjoyed the humans getting together when all hope seemed lost. When I first watched it I had no idea Sentinel Prime was a villain and was so sad to see what happened to Ironhide. The betrayal was so devastating and the comeback so great! The more I learn about the movie the better it gets! I love seeing the details added in to these scenes. Did you know that The shield Sentinel uses is physically part of his body when he is in car form? Long story short, I don't care what you think of the human relationships, The Transformer scenes were Amazing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/05/24 Full Review bob b The action and CGI were pretty good, just it needed a stronger story. Nevertheless, it is (in my opinion) the best Transformers movie Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/04/24 Full Review O.B Fan Boy It was a little better then the second movie, and if they didn't get ride of Megan Fox, the love story would have been different and in my opinion, better, and the new girl acts like she's been with him as long as his first girl, when she has definitely not. Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express So how does Michael Bay justify making a third? Why, by making the film a little dense as to plot, and giving it perhaps the longest climax ever in Hollywood history. Rated: 2/5 Apr 2, 2019 Full Review Kim Newman Sight & Sound There ought to be a way to make a live-action film about giant shapeshifting robots that's either a) fun or b) awesome... It's blatantly evident that Bay can only just about manage b) long enough to provide the shots needed to cut into a trailer. Jul 10, 2018 Full Review Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online Never mind the ridiculous subtitle. It's really just a precursor for what is to come from the rest of the movie. And Transformers: Dark of the Moon doesn't even try to play down its idiocy. Rated: D+ Sep 8, 2017 Full Review Don Shanahan Every Movie Has a Lesson Are we forgetting compelling humans actors in this? Apparently so, but you won't find one intelligent or compelling in "Transformers: Dark of the Moon." They are all thin, dumb, and forgettable. Rated: 1/5 Sep 4, 2023 Full Review Benjamín Harguindey EscribiendoCine But at the heart of the myth, the Transformers have always been toys and Bay should treat them as such, psyching himself up to tell the tried and true story of action and adventure.
