Sam Witwicky and his new girlfriend, Carly, join the fray when the evil Decepticons renew their longstanding war against the Autobots. Optimus Prime believes that resurrecting ancient Transformer Sentinel Prime, once the leader of the Autobots, may lead to victory. That decision, however, has devastating consequences. So how does Michael Bay justify making a third? Why, by making the film a little dense as to plot, and giving it perhaps the longest climax ever in Hollywood history.

There ought to be a way to make a live-action film about giant shapeshifting robots that's either a) fun or b) awesome... It's blatantly evident that Bay can only just about manage b) long enough to provide the shots needed to cut into a trailer.

Never mind the ridiculous subtitle. It's really just a precursor for what is to come from the rest of the movie. And Transformers: Dark of the Moon doesn't even try to play down its idiocy.

The worst of the 3, I can't even watch this in one sitting it's so bad. So many people on here have horrible taste, don't know good writing or are paid for their reviews, because anything over 3 stars makes no sense for this junk.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon has plenty to like, especially once it reaches the massive Chicago finale. The battle is destructive, elaborate, and full of memorable action imagery, giving the movie its strongest sense of blockbuster spectacle. The moon-landing premise is also a fun alternate-history hook, tying Transformer mythology into the space race in a way that gives the story a bigger historical angle. Sentinel Prime adds a stronger betrayal element than the usual Decepticon threat, and Leonard Nimoy’s voice gives him authority, intelligence, and menace. The visual effects are extremely polished, especially in the wing-suit sequence and city destruction. Shia LaBeouf still brings frantic energy as Sam, but the human story is less interesting than the robot conflict. The movie is too long and uneven, but the scale and final act make it watchable.

5.8/10 The movie has a lot of great things going for it: A stronger, more interesting and involved plot with higher stakes, a more serious tone, an interesting set of twist villain characters and larger action. On the other hand, it also has the most boring/unlikable Sam relationship storyline in the series, the big Chicago war climax focuses very little on the title characters and the plot itself requires numerous retcons and asinine story telling leaps to justify itself.

Once again, it kept the things I've like about this franchise, and its kept the things I don't like. Although this one felt a little more confusing, plus it continued to NOT move the franchise forward.
