What to Know

Critics Consensus

Its special effects -- and 3D shots -- are undeniably impressive, but they aren't enough to fill up its loud, bloated running time, or mask its thin, indifferent script.

Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express So how does Michael Bay justify making a third? Why, by making the film a little dense as to plot, and giving it perhaps the longest climax ever in Hollywood history. Rated: 2/5 Apr 2, 2019 Full Review Kim Newman Sight & Sound There ought to be a way to make a live-action film about giant shapeshifting robots that's either a) fun or b) awesome... It's blatantly evident that Bay can only just about manage b) long enough to provide the shots needed to cut into a trailer. Jul 10, 2018 Full Review Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online Never mind the ridiculous subtitle. It's really just a precursor for what is to come from the rest of the movie. And Transformers: Dark of the Moon doesn't even try to play down its idiocy. Rated: D+ Sep 8, 2017 Full Review JD Duran InSession Film Transformers: Dark of the Moon is a flawed film, yes, but it’s not nearly as bad as Revenge of the Fallen and takes major steps into the franchise. Rated: B- Aug 19, 2024 Full Review Don Shanahan Every Movie Has a Lesson Are we forgetting compelling humans actors in this? Apparently so, but you won't find one intelligent or compelling in "Transformers: Dark of the Moon." They are all thin, dumb, and forgettable. Rated: 1/5 Sep 4, 2023 Full Review Benjamín Harguindey EscribiendoCine But at the heart of the myth, the Transformers have always been toys and Bay should treat them as such, psyching himself up to tell the tried and true story of action and adventure. Trevor F The worst of the 3, I can't even watch this in one sitting it's so bad. So many people on here have horrible taste, don't know good writing or are paid for their reviews, because anything over 3 stars makes no sense for this junk. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/09/25 Full Review Audience Member This movie was honestly amazing, from it's CGI to its Soundtracks and Fights. This is my I guess 2nd watch, though I have to say, I hate, really hate how are they hiring so called "good looking" girls to literally make some fan service. First 2 movies Megan Fox, and this movie with Rosie. Throughout the WHOLE movie, where they had a literal war, dirt everywhere and they went through hell, she still had her make up perfected, hair done and no dirt at her face AT ALL. Not only that, 2nd movie Megan Fox was same too... she never got any wounds, nothing at her face she was perfect.. I hate that how they use women in their movies as literal baits. But the fighting part of the whole movie is just as amazing as it is. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/08/25 Full Review Thomas H In my opinion one of the best movies i have ever watched, great action and 10/10 cgi. Megatron interrupting sentinel and optimus in their final battle is just absolute cinema! I am not sure if you guys watched the same movie. Michael b knows how to cook. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/05/25 Full Review Justin D. Absolute fun! Despite this movie carrying some of the same flaws as Revenge of the Fallen, the action remains stellar and Sam Witwicky gets his best character arc in the series. They also let Shia Labeouf’s comedic moments shine, giving him without a doubt the funniest moments in the whole movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/05/25 Full Review Rafael R The movie has probably the worst story of all of them, but it also features the most entertaining and over-the-top action sequences of all five movies. I was entertained in the theater, but that was it. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/31/25 Full Review Read all reviews
