What to Know

Critics Consensus

Its special effects -- and 3D shots -- are undeniably impressive, but they aren't enough to fill up its loud, bloated running time, or mask its thin, indifferent script.

So how does Michael Bay justify making a third? Why, by making the film a little dense as to plot, and giving it perhaps the longest climax ever in Hollywood history. Go to Full Review

There ought to be a way to make a live-action film about giant shapeshifting robots that's either a) fun or b) awesome... It's blatantly evident that Bay can only just about manage b) long enough to provide the shots needed to cut into a trailer. Go to Full Review

Never mind the ridiculous subtitle. It's really just a precursor for what is to come from the rest of the movie. And Transformers: Dark of the Moon doesn't even try to play down its idiocy. Go to Full Review

Transformers: Dark of the Moon is a flawed film, yes, but it’s not nearly as bad as Revenge of the Fallen and takes major steps into the franchise. Go to Full Review

Are we forgetting compelling humans actors in this? Apparently so, but you won't find one intelligent or compelling in "Transformers: Dark of the Moon." They are all thin, dumb, and forgettable. Go to Full Review

But at the heart of the myth, the Transformers have always been toys and Bay should treat them as such, psyching himself up to tell the tried and true story of action and adventure. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Trevor F 12/10/2024 The worst of the 3, I can't even watch this in one sitting it's so bad. So many people on here have horrible taste, don't know good writing or are paid for their reviews, because anything over 3 stars makes no sense for this junk. See more some T. @somethingels 2d The final like half hour is the main part of why this movie is good to me See more TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Dec 8 Transformers: Dark of the Moon is a visually spectacular installment in the Transformers franchise that often gets harsher criticism than it deserves. The film embraces bold creative choices, sprawling action sequences, and complex visual storytelling that push the limits of cinematic spectacle. Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, and Tyrese Gibson return with strong performances, maintaining the franchise’s energy, while newcomer Rosie Huntington-Whiteley adds charisma and depth, blending seamlessly with the established cast. The plot can feel dense at times, and the runtime is lengthy, but the film rewards viewers with thrilling action, inventive set pieces, and jaw-dropping CGI. While critics often dismiss it for excess or overcomplication, Dark of the Moon succeeds in delivering an exciting, immersive ride that showcases the imaginative potential of blockbuster filmmaking, and it remains highly enjoyable when approached with the right mindset. See more Paul S Dec 1 SPOILERS. Megan Fox's absence was immensely felt throughout the entire movie, and her character was written off in the laziest way possible. There were a lot of inconsistencies throughout the movie, and a lot of stupid moments that felt completely detached from the story (even though they were really funny and enjoyable to watch). Despite this movie's shortcomings, it was still an amazing movie, and I had a lot of fun watching it. The action and visuals were incredible, and I will never get tired of hearing Peter Cullen's voice as Optimus Prime. I definitely recommend it for action, sci-fi, and combat fans, and of course for fans of the Transformers franchise! See more Project A Nov 30 This is a largely improvement then the second Transformers movie, since the second was heavily criticized but had a massive box office success, This is much better and it’s 3D screening felt more realistic and better. See more Dominic Emmanuel S Nov 28 while ins't as great as the first film , it's an improvement of revenge of the fallen and it has many iconic and memorable moments like the dreads , the Chicago battle and Sentinel prime before TFOne's version of him and this easily has the best of Steve Jablonsky's musical score See more Read all reviews
