It's interesting to note that the film doesn't bother to explain why the Hutu hate the Tutsi. The answer is obvious as it is for all prejudices: There is no good reason. Go to Full Review

Arab B @Roberta134 4d Let me be upfront, this is not my kind of movie. I met the main producer and his wife on a flight from Switzerland. I was blown away by this charismatic couple. After speaking to them for several hours, and learning about the making of this film, I was very intrigued. So I downloaded the movie, and watched it on our flight to NY. I was blown away by this film. What a gem of a film. I could not believe that this was a low budget indie film. It felt like I was watching a $5 milion budget film. The director did an amazing job, since this was her first movie. The actresses were just incredible. The female Producer told me how her husband gave up his directing funds to back this first time female black wirter director, and get this film made. Then the fight to sell the film, and what a journey these two went through for over a year to get Netflix to acquire this film. I was so inspired by their grit. They were so proud of this film, and I can see why. I urge all of you to watch this film. See more Jake H 04/09/2024 I think this is actually one of the best films I've ever seen. Truly exceptional. See more Cheryl M 03/31/2023 This was so good, heart wrenching yet truthful and raw. See more Pascale D 03/13/2023 While Hotel Rwanda is politically very controversial, Trees of Peace isn't. From the harrowing experience of hiding three months in a cave (that's where us viewers are taken), writer, director and actresses have created a humanist picture of the genocide. What it was, how it was perpetrated and the devastating consequences on Rwandan society, 1 million deaths. A breathtaking account for a multicultural society working toward peace. The plot was also great - as a viewer who's unfamiliar with the history of Rwanda, this was an eye-opener and a reminder that history is not that far away. See more Read all reviews
