L B Look. Is the cgi ridiculous? Of course it is, what do you expect?! But hey! It's actually pretty decent compared to other asylum creature features (Planet Dune, I'm looking at you!). Is the science weak? Of course it is! It's an independent film about dinosaurs being resurrected from extinction by a shady business to make them military weapons. Did anyone expect the science to be sound? It's a work of fiction, appreciate it as a fiction. What it does have? Plot twists, double crossings, greed, charged emotions, martyrs, legitimate portrayals of multidimensional characters. They have you disgusted with the greedy villain who set them up to die for a quick buck. They have you shocked when Elaine shoots Luis and Simone in cold blood. You share the bittersweet end with the survivors. Especially doing direct comparisons against it's own body of work (planet dune, apocalypse of ice, etc) the writing is actually pretty darn good. There are some continuity errors in stagecraft but I interpreted them as "winks" so to speak Ramiro Leal and William Jeon outdid themselves here in their performance. I was not expecting the sword-like weapon William yielded to save the day before he martyred himself. Ramiro really has you believing he's losing his men to these dinosaurs and delivers the first heavy shock when you learn the entire scenario was a set up through his angry confrontation with the crooked scientists. I was not expecting his character to be murdered, and I wasn't expecting Williams character to die either. The fact that these were unexpected lends heavy credibility to the writers. It also can't be understated that Kristie Krueger really pulled her weight. She successfully has the audience first being awed by her, then feeling bad for her and finally being disgusted by her. I do think rather than attempt to show the dinosaur eating her head off, given their cgi constraints, they were better off showing the dinosaur nearing her head, cutting away to the protagonists briefly and then doing a brief close up of a headless, "lifeless" body. The cgi was decent in most scenes except there. Ignore the reviews whining about the special effects more broadly. This isn't Disney or Sony pictures, it's asylum. Get a grip 😒 Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/29/25 Full Review Audience Member This movie isn't nearly as bad as the other reviewers make it out to be, but it's not good either. It's just meh. The CGI is what you'd expect from the asylum and it falls into the trap of being being super unremarkable until the final act where it goes off the rails. But I must say the evil billionaire's acting before his death is amazing. Like you feel his pain. It's some of the best acting I've ever seen, and it's in THIS. It's ridiculous! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Triassic Hunt is a sequel to the 2018 film Triassic World, clearly a mockbuster of Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Instead of a dinosaur zoo/theme park though, we have dinosaurs that were supposed to be growing human organs and when that failed miserably, they decided to transport a male and female to Costa Rica, because of course. Things quickly go wrong from the start, not just in terms of the dinosaurs immediately escaping and killing people, but in terms of the plot and major plot holes. I don't think even having our wonderful creature feature star, Danny Trejo could have saved this disaster of a film. After the dinosaurs get away in an industrial park of some sort, the for hire mercenaries that were transporting the allosaurs must get their whole team together to recapture them…alive. But it turns out the company that hired them has set them up as a demonstration to sell the allosaurs as a weapon. They are supposed to have human level intelligence as well making this even more difficult. There's so many problems with this. Let's first start with the fact that they are trying to sell these 2 allosaurs' as a weapon, which already is a bad idea since they are supposed to be really smart, but apparently don't do as they are told. They also are taking a huge risk that one or both of these creatures could end up being killed, which there goes your profit. Next, let's also take a quick moment to talk about the design of these allosaurs' cause it's bad. Aside from the subpar CGI, they have the biggest hips, so these are killing machines that probably won't be able to walk in a couple years due to massive hip dysplasia. Another huge plot flaw is the list of countries bidding that supposedly have a GDP to afford them. They could have at least done a quick google search to see which countries could afford them, but they start the bid at a half a billion and that's only for 1 of these dinos! While some of the countries that are listed are believable, I have a really hard time believing that Kosovo, Cyprus, and Moldova can afford this. This movie's really only redeeming quality is that it's fun to riff. If you enjoy watching a movie to laugh at with friends, then you'll have a great time with this, but aside from that, then don't waste your time with this.
