matthias s "Troll" takes you on a wild ride into a bizarre fantasy world that leaves you scratching your head. The creature design, while undeniably ugly, somehow manages to be oddly nasty and scary, but not necessarily in a good way. The plot is as thin as a sheet of paper, and Wendy's portrayal of her character is just plain weird and annoying, rather than delivering any real scares. Michael Moriarty as the father, on the other hand, is a delight to watch. His quirky humor and charm inject some much-needed life into this oddball movie. It's undeniably well-made, but "Troll" struggles to decide whether it wants to be a fantasy or a horror film, leading to a confusing mix of childish moments and a story that's clearly not meant for kids. The music scene with the creatures singing is strangely endearing, yet it clashes with the overall tone. The pacing is slower than a snail on a Sunday stroll, and a lot more backstory would have been appreciated. In the end, "Troll" is a peculiar cinematic journey that leaves you pondering its intentions long after the credits roll. Childhood favorite "scarry movie" Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/06/23 Full Review Jackie S Although I don't remember much I do remember liking this although it was quite boring at parts. I would recommend I guess Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/05/23 Full Review Sir M Not terrible, but not decent. A time filler using some okay mythos about fairy tale and fantasy creatures. The side characters are more memorable. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review lance C It has become a trope, but the original story started it all.
