Well, the Blair Witch Project and Cloverfield has a norwegian child. The film is overly interesting, overly monotonous and overdone with the errors of the "found footage" format; in short, it is all over the place. The whole issue of landing the fantasy around trolls is wonderful, there is no doubt about that. But there are many buts. For example, the troll hunter exposes the monotony of his profession so well that it permeates the viewer, what he does has become so everyday that it lacks emotion. Then, the camera shots... they forget that it should have been captured by the students, but then they enter into the vehicule and we saw a scene of the car driving away... so then who took that, and so on for a while of things like this. In the end, it is interesting and totally realistic, so much that when the fantasy element appears, it is seen with the same monotony as the one that gives the film its name. Oh! and not scary, not at all.

I first saw this maybe a year or less after it came out. I was about 11 at the time and still believed in magic and monsters, and loved this entire movie. I really thought it was real at the time. Over ten years later and it's still one of my favorite movies. The mix of found footage with urban fantasy and countryside road-trip vibes really gets me.
