Tasha Robinson Polygon The songs are kinda boring and the plot's pretty rote, but this film is shockingly beautiful and thought-through in all the design elements. Sep 29, 2020 Full Review Jake Wilson The Age (Australia) Even with so much spelled out, the significance of this very abstract parable will be best appreciated by the adults in the room, just as the trippy visuals (often quite imaginative) belong to the same tradition of knowingly warped storybook imagery. Rated: 2.5/5 Sep 16, 2020 Full Review Clarisse Loughrey Independent (UK) Trolls World Tour is clear on one thing: never should glitter and rainbows be automatically equated with brainlessness. Rated: 3/5 Aug 10, 2020 Full Review Mat Brunet AniMat's Review (YouTube) Trolls World Tour is about the same as the first where its a visually beautiful spectacle, but its weak script keeps it away from being anything more than a forgettably generic kids flick. Rated: 6/10 Feb 16, 2022 Full Review Lonita Cook KCTV5 News at 9 A strange, fun and layered elegy to music. Jun 16, 2021 Full Review Hagan Osborne FILMINK (Australia) ...a journey well-trodden, but nonetheless elevated by tight visuals, high-energy, and good vibes that make for some easy-breezy viewing. Nilda C The music was so much fun! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/23/22 Full Review Stephanie Me and my kids loved every minute of the movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/25/22 Full Review Janet P It was a cute movie. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/23/22 Full Review chris r Great movie for kids Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/20/22 Full Review Miss C Within the first five minutes, a male troll "gives birth" from his head to release an egg, and his baby troll speaks immediately to reinforce that "dad brought me into this world". The movie maintains this socio-political stance throughout, so it does get exhausting when that directive interferes with the better aspects of the story. The bulk of the movie is a hypocritical double-standard about acceptance while simultaneously vilifying and mocking other genres, with Smooth Jazz being the brunt of the jokes, and Country music trolls are portrayed as being unrefined, sour drunks. Of course Rock music is the protagonist. I had been originally excited by the premise, being a fan of many genres of music and hoping for it to be a tad educational for my young kids. It has none of the charm of the original Trolls movie and clearly was not allocated equivalent attention to the storyline. Finally, what was seemingly the primary moral message of being emotionally open to hearing and digesting alternate opinions, is ultimately entirely unraveled when the result of this dismissal of other's opinions results in saving the Troll's music individuality - and then is confirmed by the king to have been a "strength" of the princess as opposed to a defect, as it had been hammered into the audience every few minutes prior. The best parts of this movie are all the scenes with Sam Rockwell and the "History of Funk" song performed by Prince D. My kids did like it, so there's a star for that, but they also could not articulate what transpired other than there was different styles of music and the bad guy was Rock. The animation was stellar, but the story was convoluted, duplicitous, and downright disinformation in some cases. I'm sad to say I hated it for those reasons. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/01/22 Full Review Christina I love the 1.50 showtimes!! They really help us mothers out a lot. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/16/21 Full Review Read all reviews
