It's debatable whether the best love stories are also the "weirdest," as Emile Hirsch's character declares in "Twice Born." But they do require chemistry, the missing piece in his pairing with Penlope Cruz. Go to Full Review

Sergio Castellitto's film projects a tumultuous love story against the backdrop of the Bosnian War for independence, and then seems unaware that the foreground overshadows it in the worst possible way. Go to Full Review

"Twice Born" chokes to death on its own melodrama. Go to Full Review

The recreation of Sarajevo by art designer Francesco Frigeri is equally staggering and beautiful. It's a shame the rest of the team didn't hold up their end of the bargain. Go to Full Review

Twice Born wants so desperately to be taken seriously that it creates an unnecessarily complex narrative, void of any chemistry-building moments for its romantic leads. Go to Full Review

The type of cinematic slog one watches and thinks, 'This would actually be much more interesting as a book.' And that makes sense, really, since that's its original medium. Go to Full Review

mark g @Mark_Alan_G. Jul 22 Rated over 7 on IMDB and is 9% fresh, quite the disparity. My take is Rotten Tomatoes might be harsh, but is more accurate than IMDB. This movie is pretty clumsy one way over done. Many parts are cringe worthy. However, the natural landscapes are beautiful. See more 01/09/2017 I have watched this movie several times over the last few years and it can still bring tears to my eyes. Hirsch's best can be seen at his worst in the film... Pe, is brilliant in her anguish. And, those eyes, are hauntingly beautiful yet broken. See more Read all reviews
