Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member I have watched this movie several times over the last few years and it can still bring tears to my eyes. Hirsch's best can be seen at his worst in the film... Pe, is brilliant in her anguish. And, those eyes, are hauntingly beautiful yet broken. Sheri Linden Los Angeles Times It's debatable whether the best love stories are also the "weirdest," as Emile Hirsch's character declares in "Twice Born." But they do require chemistry, the missing piece in his pairing with Penlope Cruz. Jan 2, 2014 Full Review Todd Gilchrist TheWrap Sergio Castellitto's film projects a tumultuous love story against the backdrop of the Bosnian War for independence, and then seems unaware that the foreground overshadows it in the worst possible way. Dec 6, 2013 Full Review Kyle Smith New York Post "Twice Born" chokes to death on its own melodrama. Rated: 1.5/4 Dec 6, 2013 Full Review Bernard Boo Way Too Indie The recreation of Sarajevo by art designer Francesco Frigeri is equally staggering and beautiful. It's a shame the rest of the team didn't hold up their end of the bargain. Rated: 5.8/10 Apr 9, 2019 Full Review Shawn Hazelett Under the Radar Twice Born wants so desperately to be taken seriously that it creates an unnecessarily complex narrative, void of any chemistry-building moments for its romantic leads. Rated: 3.5/10 Aug 20, 2014 Full Review Brent Simon Paste Magazine The type of cinematic slog one watches and thinks, 'This would actually be much more interesting as a book.' And that makes sense, really, since that's its original medium. Rated: 2/5 Dec 8, 2013 Full Review Read all reviews
