What to Know

Critics Consensus

Having lost much of its bite transitioning to the big screen, Twilight will please its devoted fans, but do little for the uninitiated.

Anne Cohen Refinery29 Ten years after its release, Twilight stands as a powerful, darkly stylish depiction of teen female desire. Nov 15, 2018 Full Review Laremy Legel Film.com My hope is that the sequels are actual attempts at movies. The world doesn't need any more toothless cinema. Rated: C- May 6, 2011 Full Review Manohla Dargis New York Times A deeply sincere, outright goofy vampire romance for the hot-not-to-trot abstinence set. Rated: 2.5/5 Apr 8, 2011 Full Review Ezequiel Obregón EscribiendoCine Twilight is a designed film, with rigorous casting and a somewhat predictable script. Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 5, 2023 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand The sequels became increasingly silly and overwrought but the original Twilight (2008) is actually kind of interesting even if you are not a devotee of the fan fic-turned-bestseller series. To start off, we were fond of the shocking storyline throughout the movie because it wasn’t boring. We couldn’t stop watching the movie because it has a nice balance between romance and thrill. We particularly liked the moments between the two main characters because of the amount of tension between them. The story shows us about an ordinary relation between the two interesting lifestyles of the characters. The plots in the movie build up an unpredictable, gruesome feeling. So definitely recommended! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/09/25 Full Review Keith R A fabulous looking film, people and scenery. Great soundtrack. The casting is excellent throughout but particularly the two leads. The director did an excellent job. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/06/25 Full Review Read all reviews
