Audience Member Insipid direction and a pitiful script. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/19 Full Review Audience Member Bizarre but cool Swinging London/British psycho flick--Twins make trouble!! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member VERY strange British offering from 1970. The story is set in swinging London of the late 60s & concerns two odd twins who arrive as "babes in the woods" & are quickly adopted by a fast, wealthy set of bored, drunken & drugged-out aristos. Only are they quite as innocent as they appear? As new bonds start to form amongst the group & threaten to destabilise the unnatural relationship between brother & sister the mood shifts from one of careless gaiety to one of ominous foreboding. Terrible things are bound to happen....&, indeed, they do. Jolly good, but awfully strange. I think it is based on a book, but would have to re-watch my video to find the title as it is not listed in any of my film guides. I note that this is the only R/V, so it obviously must be hard to get hold of. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member In the period after his work on Hammer studios's TV series Journey to the Unknown (1968 and Crescendo (1969) but before he made Dracula A.D. 1972 (1972) and The Satanic Rites of Dracula (1973) director Alan Gibson made this unusual psychological thriller which uses themes from Mumsy, Nanny, Sonny, Girly (1970), Brian De Palma's Sisters (1973) and a host of incestuous, dysfunctional family thrillers. It takes advantage of the late 60s swinging London setting and the seemingly innocent and attractive sibligs. It has some genuinely creepy moments and the strong sexual themes are handled surprisingly well. It also also boasts some creative camera work and exceptional performances from all the cast including Michael Redgrave, Freddie Jones and Alexis Kanner. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review eric b The setting is swinging-'60s London. The plot is about sexy, incestuous twins with murderous tendencies. Why is this film so dull? Based the novel "Ask Agamemnon" (Agamemnon is a worn-out teddy bear), "Goodbye Gemini" finds golden-blonde, college-age Julian (Martin Potter) and Jacki (Judy Geeson) arriving for a stay at their father's posh townhouse. They are giggling cases of arrested development who, like so many twins, are intimately bonded on their own private wavelength. However, they don't seem so cute once they casually dispose of their stern housekeeper. From here, they appear destined for a shocking spree of sociopathic killings, but instead they...go to parties. Ho hum. They soon meet Clive (Alexis Kanner), a bisexual playboy with ridiculous sideburns who looks like a forgotten Bee Gee. He brings along Denise (Marion Diamond), an insecure girl who hopes to steer Julian away from his sisterly obsession. The group becomes a social foursome, but there's a problem: Clive owes money, and a thug promises to break some bones if the debt isn't paid off. Fast. Clive hatches a blackmail scheme to bleed the wealthy twins, but doesn't realize whom he's up against. Michael Redgrave (what's he doing in this nonsense?) appears as an older TV celebrity who helps Jacki, and Terri Scully plays an amusing queen whose role should have been bigger. Kinky transvestites turn up in odd places (more of a cinematic rarity in 1970), while the mysterious importance of Jacki's beloved Agamemnon was probably better explained in the book. "Goodbye Gemini" is well-directed and has a charismatic cast, but its story is just too thin. This cult film is often compared to "Twisted Nerve," but is far inferior. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Judy Geeson and Martin Potter play beautiful twins with a kinky bond up to no good at the fag end of the swinging London era playing deadly games with Alexis (The Prisoner) Kanner. very much of its era with a strange but appealing period atmosphere and strong support from a good supporting cast including Sir Michael Redgrave as an MP fascinated by those on the periphery of society and the likes of Freddie Jones, Mike Pratt and Brian Wilde. Groovy music too! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Read all reviews
