Steve Davis Austin Chronicle One can only hope Perry will move on to another holiday and perhaps take the effort to reconnect with the crazy old-lady persona that has served him so well. Until then: Oh hail, no. Rated: 1/5 Oct 26, 2017 Full Review Charles Bramesco AV Club If nothing else, and there really isn't much else, this feature provides a startling glimpse into the interiors of Perry's imagination. Rated: D Oct 23, 2017 Full Review Kimber Myers Los Angeles Times While its predecessor at least pleased his fans, writer-director-star Perry's latest offers few laughs and embarrassing post-production work. Harris Black Horror Movies Of course, all of the problems with the first film also continue in the sequel, from cringey performances by a cast of social media personalities... to the flimsy, often nonsensical plot. Rated: 1.2/5 Jan 7, 2020 Full Review Mattie Lucas From the Front Row A disappointingly tired retread that brings no new ideas to the table, and runs on recycled jokes that quickly wear out their welcome. Gothmummi M I quite enjoyed Boo 2, had some genuine jump scares and scary moments! There are some laughs and it's a bit of a "whodunnit" storyline which I also enjoyed. My biggest gripes with this and other Madea films are always the same issues: The "too many words per minute" dialogue, that is a pattern in Madea movies. Talking over each other and just spouting rubbish ruins it for me as I'm having to decipher who's saying what to who. The character Hattie just annoys me and I'd enjoy them a lot more if she wasn't a feature. Her voice and facial expressions are so over exaggerated it grates on me. Uncle Joe making MULTIPLE jokes and references to Madea being a man also get very old very quickly. If we're supposed to suspend belief that Made a is a biological woman then probably shouldn't make "she's a dude, a man, yes sir" comments every 15 minutes. Seeing someone in a Native American Halloween costume was actually quite shocking to me in this day and age! Uncle Joe being gross and inappropriate with a girl who says she's 17 also grossed me out, definitely didn't make me laugh. I must admit I enjoyed the Madea films a lot more when I was a teenager/ early 20s. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/25 Full Review Pure L Reminds me of Icarly in so many ways! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/29/23 Full Review Anthony C Only 4 jokes were actually funny. Every character except Joe and Madea, where annoying, and uninteresting. The plot moved slow. The acting was good, but because of how boring the characters are, it didn't help at all. Easily the worst movie I've ever seen. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/15/23 Full Review Andy S (Mistletoe Virus I'm saying I like this movie!) Madea + Halloween = Epic Win!!! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/12/23 Full Review Michael C Another one of my favorites!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/08/23 Full Review Read all reviews
