Liz B I found this film compelling watching and felt it dealt with the issue of mental illness with a light touch. Great acting and direction. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/10/23 Full Review Elsie S This film was so awful , I would have walked out but my friend had fallen asleep .I have no idea who the actress was playing the lead character , but she looked like she was wearing "Biff''s" wig from Back to The Future when he's older and cleaning Martys car .The storyline was depressing .There was no laughter to be found in the dialogue from "Biff " or her nervous mental health team worker .They had scenes with random Morris Dancers , role playing Anglo Saxons , seated Yoga classes and various other totally irrelevant people /scenario's , but nothing could save this mess . One to miss I think . Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/28/23 Full Review Eric M Asides from 3 images it was pretty clear why this was a forgotten artist - though it seems putting the word "artist" in front of anyone is supposed to make really poor work seem enlightening. I had never heard of Amiss before this film and felt I hadn't missed much. Her mental illness as portrayed in the film reminded me of every mad person ever who has ever made someone's life hell! From crazy complaining neighbours to paranoid schizophrenics who talk to themselves and then attack other people. It wasn't clear if this was supposed to be an accurate portrayal of a mentally ill person or not but I don't need to see someone having a breakdown nor the audience finding it funny. Far from funny, after 40 minutes (which seemed like 5 hours) I walked out - having realised there was a world out there far removed from someone portrayed on screen who spent most of her life in mental institutions and should have stayed there. Dreadful film - even worse art work. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Wendy Ide Observer (UK) It’s a humane and warm-hearted little road movie, which takes a generous and accepting stance on Amiss’s rather abrasive character traits. But it’s also slightly flat and disjointed... Rated: 3/5 Oct 29, 2023 Full Review Kevin Maher Times (UK) A committed central performance and a comforting narrative structure are not enough, ultimately, to save this earnest yet haphazard biopic. Rated: 2/5 Oct 27, 2023 Full Review David Jenkins Little White Lies A delight, and a film which cleverly picks apart the clichés of the timeworn artist biopic. Rated: 4/5 Oct 26, 2023 Full Review Grant Watson Fiction Machine Overall it is a warm, charming, and valuable film. Rated: 7/10 Feb 8, 2024 Full Review Rich Cline Shadows on the Wall Inspired by the life of under-appreciated British artist Audrey Amiss, this warm and offbeat road movie unfolds with a terrific sense of playful curiosity.
