The elements of its plot lacks sense, it's just a mash-up of its cheap inspirations. Its characters try so hard to be cute and funny, but they aren't really. Rather, their dreamy gestures and clumsiness only serve as bad models for young adults. This is what you get when you make a movie out of bad literature. In every formula, it thrives.
