11/08/2014 Un seul mot : mièvre ! Marguerite s'est retournée dans sa tombe. See more 09/01/2013 Feels much longer than it's actual length. Very slow moving, which isn't always a bad thing, but in this case it is just that unfortunately. The story is a bit everywhere too. I rated it three stars because I've an emotional attachment to Duras' "The Lover" and this film interested me mainly because of that, also the scenery and cinematography is beautiful in this film and it's an aesthetic joy to watch. See more 06/26/2010 A rather hollow film set in 1930s French Indo-China that ticks the boxes for realistic sets, colonial rule, racial tensions, and decent acting but fails to bring them all together in a cohesive whole.
