Pablo Villaça Cinema em Cena Este melodrama, apesar de valorizado pela presena sempre intensa de Kirk Douglas, prejudicado pelo roteiro bvio e pela fraca performance de Dany Robin. Rated: 3/5 Jun 7, 2004 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member A dramatic, romantic, sad, tragic world war two love movie. Douglas is fantastic and the rest of the cast is good too. It's not that different from other war romance movies, but I was surprised by the ending, it was sad. Overall, I think it was a good movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member 70% "Act of Love" with Kirk Douglas starring in a story of a bittersweet romance between an American soldier and a lonely, penniless Frenchwoman during the liberation of Paris in 1944. Black and white. see a small part of it at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K78PtxC-7cM This film, like so many of the time, is slow to develope into something I could have an interest. Despite the always screen present Douglas, the film takes a while to gain traction. The retelling of the romance of Teller (Douglas) and Lisa begins a half hour into the film, so we have to wait that long to know what is bothering Douglas in the first 5 minutes of the film. Wrote one unpaid critic of the film: "An excellent movie!! Painful ending that shake you up. A lovers romantic movie. Highly recommended 4 stars!!!" A professional critic at the time of the film's release wrote: "... the film is a fine and strongly moving but eventually irksome tracing of a plain romance." Ultimately this is a film thats merit rests on the ending. Each should see it for themselves to see if the end justifies the wait. NOTES about the film: 1 Look for later famous Brigitte Bardot as Mimi in a minor role. See this! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaeRgB9IdtM 2 Film critic Leonard Maltin writes: "Entertaining if unremarkable chronicle of the romance between lonely American soldier Douglas and down-and-out French girl Robin in Paris." 3 ACT OF LOVE, screen play by Irwin Shaw, based on the novel "The Girl on the Via Flaminia," by Alfred Hayes.
