Audience Member A very stagy & poor acted Australian Adventure film from Australian Cinema Pioneer Charles Chauvel that was definitely one of his lesser works. I feel the idea was solid but performances where not & to be truthful the most realistic aspects of the film where the Aboriginal Tribal Dances. It's interesting to analyze film production in Australia in the 1930's & how it was clearly inferior to the USA (not in all cases though). If you are an enthusiast of Chauvel it's worth a watch but I warn you it's a dry film indeed. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A young female novelist goes in search of a white ruler of a group of aborigines with a searching party led by an un-named policeman who disguises himself as an afghan slave trader. The policeman then abducts the woman knowing that the white ruler is looking for a white female to make his wife in order to infiltrate the opium dealings that are keeping the aborigines in a state of war. Dull and sometimes laughable, a failed Australian attempt to break the international box office. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews
