A heroic loner takes on a group of nuclear terrorists in this seagoing tale. Posing as a rock band, the terrorists get themselves hired for a party aboard the USS Missouri, a battleship en route to Pearl Harbor for decommissioning. They plan to steal the ship's nuclear arsenal but haven't reckoned on the intervention of the ship's chef, a decorated former Navy SEAL.

Critics Consensus

A well-directed action thriller that makes the most of its confined setting, Under Siege marks a high point for early '90s action -- and its star's spotty filmography.

Duane Byrge The Hollywood Reporter Die Hard on a ship, this Steven Seagal starrer is a hard-charged, perfectly detonated actioner that should especially delight especially macho mainstreamers. Oct 25, 2019 Full Review Gene Siskel Chicago Tribune The tension and humor level tail off a bit toward the conclusion, but Steven Seagal and Chicago director Andy Davis clearly declare themselves as top-flight talent. Audience Member Classic 90's action and still very entertaining! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/15/25 Full Review Jens B Die Hard on a ship. Not with Bruce Willis, but with Steven Seagal, probably the most boring (and vain?) action hero of the 80s/90s. We don't get Hans Gruber aka Alan Rickman, who combines elegance and menace, but Tommy Lee Jones, who is apparently already practicing for his role as Two-Face in "Batman Forever" - and Garey Busey in drag. All of this is pretty trivial, but not quite as boring as Seagal's other films. The reason for this is the solid production, the ship as a setting, a few good kills (jigsaw) and the obligatory boob shot is also not missing. The highlight is certainly Garey Busey, my fascination with him is slowly becoming worrying. The final image of the film is the icing on the cake. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/23/25 Full Review Jose T I only like it cause steven seagel is in this movie and he a hardcore putin supporter and i like support putin and this is only fresh score movie and that's why I like this movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/24/25 Full Review Leonard F This is Steven Seagal's best movie. The battleship setting is interesting and the casting was done well. Gary Busey nails the crazy man and Tommie Lee Jones is perfect as the bad guy disguised as a rocker Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/14/24 Full Review Audience Member I wish my buttocks were under siege by Steven Siegal Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/06/24 Full Review Read all reviews
