Bill Goodykoontz Arizona Republic On its own modest terms, "Under the Boardwalk" is a pleasant, enjoyable experience... Rated: 3.5/5 Jun 2, 2011 Full Review Chuck Bowen Slant Magazine Under the Boardwalk is affectionate and inoffensive, but unavoidably disposable. Rated: 2/4 May 9, 2011 Full Review Neil Genzlinger New York Times The film bounces around enjoyably, giving a history of the game, talking to people who love it and chronicling the 2009 Monopoly World Championships in Las Vegas. Rated: 3/5 May 6, 2011 Full Review Christopher Long Movie Metropolis Strictly a soft sell, a breezy, fan's-eye appreciation of one of America's (and now much of the world's) most popular board games. Rated: 6/10 Feb 12, 2012 Full Review Kam Williams NewsBlaze Advance token to Boardwalk! Rated: 3/4 May 12, 2011 Full Review Prairie Miller WBAI Radio Fascinating revelations on how the 75 year old game adapted to changing times, and originated as anti-capitalist during the Great Depression, then flipped the script. As it takes up the significant challenges of bringing a board game to cinematic life. May 9, 2011 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member From the DVD's cover, I was expecting a fascinating story about the origins about the Monopoly game and how it progressed over time. Instead, the movie was one scene after another about a professional Monopoly tournament and interviews with the participants-some of whom were hard to understand and none of whom were really interesting. While the tournament might have been of interest, I was hoping to hear more about the Monopoly game in general. Namely, how and why it originated, how it became so popular, its influence on culture, etc. But the movie was practically all about said tournament, and it failed to catch my interest. Unless you are into Monopoly tournaments, don't bother. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Monopoly is my all time favorite board-game, thus, I would love this movie, which I do. It has the best explanations about the game and it's so entertaining. Great movie! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member I love Monopoly as much as most, but these are some nerdy mofos. I especially love the creepy cat man who makes sure to announce that he is unwed, as if the photo of him and his feline life mate upon the mantle didn't cover that. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member I enjoy Monopoly. It brings together people and you suddenly realize who the salespeople are! My girlfriend is an absolute addict and one of the best players I've ever encountered. This film really helps capture the craze and spirit of Monopoly and how it's become a global phenomenon for the past 75 years. It's very cool to see the origins and how it fairs today. The movie mixes little factoids in and also covers the world tournament. It's a pleasant little documentary that doesn't get too in depth ok any one subject. I'd recommend giving it a look! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member this documentary is really interesting and make me realize how big it is to just crate one simple game, like monopoly. the story isn't too boring as a plain documentary. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Pretty average documentary for me, but very entertaining characters involved Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Read all reviews
