Judging by this and The Collector, Dunstan’s better at directing straight horror, as he has trouble settling on a tone here, or even consistent direction of the cast. Go to Full Review

Dunstan presents a breezy, lighthearted horror comedy with a few puerile jokes and a gruesome body count, evocative of ’80s horror. It's clear he's having a blast and it's infectious. Go to Full Review

It was so one note. I think the cast is lovely. I just didn't live for anything else about this movie. Go to Full Review

Unhuman is still a thrashy B-movie, first and foremost. But it’s trying to do something a bit different, and that’s not bad for another Blumhouse throwaway. Go to Full Review

Somehow trying to convince us that this is more than just another slapdash zombie rage film takes it into territory that strains even further credulity and only raises the annoyance already peaked with endless shouting and no further ingenuity. Go to Full Review

Christopher H Mar 21 "Unhuman" initially presents itself as a familiar, if somewhat charming, entry into the teenage zombie slasher genre. It delivers the expected tropes with a reasonable amount of flair: a secluded setting, a diverse group of high schoolers, and the inevitable onslaught of the undead. For the most part, it's a perfectly serviceable B-movie experience. There's a certain "quaint" appeal to its straightforward approach, providing enough gore and tension to keep genre enthusiasts engaged. However, the film takes a sharp, and arguably disastrous, turn in its final act. A twist is introduced that, while undeniably unexpected, strains the limits of believability to an almost comical degree. It's the kind of reveal that forces a complete re-evaluation of everything that came before, and not in a good way. The suspension of disbelief, already stretched by the zombie premise, snaps entirely. The initial enjoyment of "Unhuman" is quickly overshadowed by the sheer audacity of this twist. What started as a decent, if unremarkable, genre flick descends into territory that borders on the absurd. While some might appreciate the film's willingness to take risks, this particular gamble feels more like a miscalculation. Ultimately, "Unhuman" is a film of stark contrasts. It offers a perfectly acceptable, even enjoyable, first two acts, only to sabotage itself with a final twist that is as baffling as it is memorable. Whether you'll find this twist entertainingly bad or frustratingly so is a matter of personal taste. But one thing is certain: you won't forget it. I understand that they wanted to do something unique but they failed in my opinion See more Asande N 11/08/2023 It was weird. The camera angles didn't work for me, and with the random slow motion, who did the editing? It was weird. It felt like a horror comedy where the horror is the comedy. A Disney horror film is the best way to describe it,, I would say. Most of the jokes are just horrible and corny. See more Tina K 09/16/2023 It has cute dialogue. Unlikeable characters, but there are ones you "love to hate." I like the use of old-school special effects. Surprise socio-psychological twist. See more Chris H 06/24/2023 Not into horror movies, but I like comedies! And a movie that can reveal itself through clues but you still can't figure out the inner mystery is a good movie, and this one did that. See more Read all reviews
