Jamie J. Hagen Autostraddle This film is testament to the need to reform our dysfunctional health care system and provide affordable health care for all. Jul 13, 2021 Full Review Gabrielle Rivera Autostraddle It will live forever and hopefully be used to educate and show people what can happen when we work together. Jun 10, 2021 Full Review Jeannette Catsoulis New York Times As scrappy and passionate as the actions it documents, "United in Anger: A History of Act Up" delivers a living tribute to a movement spawned by death and despair. Rated: 2/5 Feb 22, 2014 Full Review Mike Scott Times-Picayune This story deserves more than a merely functional telling, which is really all it manages here. Rated: 2/5 Oct 6, 2012 Full Review Kam Williams AALBC.com A telling reminder of just how effective civil disobedience still can be when you tap into a forbidden emotion to unleash the requisite righteous rage needed to challenge an intransigent authority in collective and constructive fashion. Audience Member Fast-paced and covers a lot of territory, including the birth of the organization, its roots, the protests against the FDA, CDC, Wall Street, the bad actor Reagan and the other miscreants who did nothing (Koch, Bush) or put up obstacles (O'Connor and the Roman Catholic Church). All of this while telling of a human tragedy and the organic movement to save lives against apathetic men in power. Great footage and effective storytellers. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member There is no doubt that ACT UP played a major role in the fight against the AIDS pandemic, but this documentary lacks a clear structure and is quite repetitious, showing too many interviews of people saying the same thing over and over - which becomes tiring really fast. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member I work in HIV care and I feel like this documentary was a critical learning experience for me. It is shocking and unfortunate that the work of ACT UP has been erased from dialogue and history, even though, in the scheme of things, it JUST HAPPENED. The film made me feel ashamed for what I did not know and grateful that there were people willing to teach me. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews
