Shaun D This was great! Really suburb, so glad I watched it. Very cleverly written and the drama was next level. One of the best movies I've ever seen. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/10/20 Full Review Audience Member I'm not surprised at all that I'm the only one whose reviewed this on Flixster. I may be the only person whose seen it! I don't think there's much need to explain why this is so bad. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member A tease of a movie, that fails primarily with the lack of acting ability of lead actress Justine Priestley. None of the rest of the cast is very good either. Lame story only has a few bright moments. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member This little gem was a fun rollercoaster ride--lots of twists and turns, high-speed straightaways and just when you think you've got it figured out, here comes another drop. Justine Priestley is deliciously warped as Amanda, a mental patient on the loose who has got to have it her way or not at all. But oh, the lengths she'll go to...you think YOU know crazy people? Better meet Amanda first. One of the most memorable scenes in any movie EVER is in this thing. I hate to blow the surprise--so I won't--but you'll know it when you see it and think about it ever after. One other surprise is the blues/rock soundtrack--top notch stuff...who is this artist and why isn't she on my iPod??? Well, I'll be looking for the DVD and you should too. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member It takes a certain talent to make a tremondously bad movie. Mike Rissi, the director of Up Against Amanda should be applauded for his sub-standard efforts. I'm not sure how to describe this one. Fatal Attraction + Basic Instinct + The Crush - any type of interesting characters and that would sum it up. I have several good movies to watch. I have The Cooler, The Player, The Serpent and the Rainbow...among the several others I rented today...and I pick this. The plot has Amanda (Justine Priestly) being released from a pyscho ward. She gets out by letting the head doctor screw her...there's actually a funny quip about that...unfortunatly, that's where it stops being interesting. Once free from the hospital, the doctor rents her a house and comes over for a visit. She knocks him out, ties him to a bed, and sticks a hair curler up his ass...I kid you not. He dies from his anal burns...I guess....and she buries him in the backyard...Screw this review! No one's going to read it and it isn't worth the time to write it... Just take my advice and don't see this. The ending is unintentionally funny...it was meant to be more than that...but, it's just funny. :rotten: I did have an interesting conversation with a drunk guy at the Mini-Mart after the viewing if this film...
