Steve D With recent events it would be hard to watch even if it was a whole lot funnier. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/08/23 Full Review ashley h Uptown Saturday Night is an okay film. It is about two friends who search the underworld for a winning lottery ticket lost in a nightclub holdup. Sidney Poitier and Bill Cosby give decent performances. The script is a little slow in places. Sidney Poitier did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the action and humor. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Nick B It's not going to change the world. A enjoyable take on a classic. It doesn't take itself seriously and was a fun ride with plenty of laughs. John Turturro delivers lines so well that Groucho would be proud. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/07/22 Full Review Audience Member One of my favorite movies of all time, wildly entertaining raised the bar for black cinema above typical blaxploitation Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/19/20 Full Review Audience Member The best comedy movie ever made! Penelope Gilliatt New Yorker Black is beautiful. Yes, but Uptown Saturday Night, directed by Sidney Poitier, demonstrates something more revolutionary: Black is fun. Mar 6, 2024 Full Review Donald Bogle Freedomways We should continue to demand, expect, and fight for much more from our movies. But we should never let ourselves be content with yesterday's warmed up left-overs. And, unfortunately, that's just what Uptown Saturday Night is. Sep 23, 2020 Full Review Dick Lochte Los Angeles Free Press I have nothing but good feelings about the movie. Dec 12, 2019 Full Review Steve Crum Video-Reviewmaster.com Very dated humor with youngish Cosby and Poitier...who directs OK. Puccio Movie Metropolis ...harmless enough, flimsy and almost forgettable entertainment but easy going down. Rated: 5/10 Jan 7, 2004 Full Review Read all reviews
