Audience Member A 'Play' on 'The Wonder that was India'. In simple but effective means the movie transformed me to a time when India was a happy place. The play takes a peek at politics, art, culture and social life of India, roughly in a period between 2nd century BC to 5th Century AD. It was a pleasure to watch, loved the humor, simple yet graceful portrayal of people and places, music and the plot. I would like to live to see a day when India would again be simple and happy, a place where ideas could take root, a place were people are happy, when I could see a real Vasanth Utsav, bliss. My compliments to Girish Karnad, Sashi Kapoor, Shekar Suman, Rekha, Shankar Nag, Amjad Khan, Kulbhushan Kharbanda,Anuradha Patel,Neena Gupta. Flawed at several places, yes, but honestly one of the very very few Bollywood films worth watching. The era speaks of the time when sex was considered worship, and prostitutes were honored as goddesses. We have Vatsayan writing the Kamasutra, checking every room so that no position is missed, have Annu Kapoor doing a mind-boggling scene of hanging from the balcony, giving an impression that only they could think of.
