Loosely based on the real life of movie star Rudolph Valentino (Anthony Dexter), this drama follows the actor's career as he ascends from obscurity to fame. Starting out as a dancer, Valentino gradually gains bigger movie roles and becomes involved in a volatile relationship with actress Joan Carlisle (Eleanor Parker), one of his many loves. Eventually, Carlisle begins a romance with director William King (Richard Carlson), which makes Valentino jealous, despite his playboy ways.
