Lariste L 2d It's perhaps unfair giving live music release a 2-star review, since for some listeners, Alex Van Halen, Eddie, the singer and the mullet dude with the voice (Anthony) carried on the classic rock era into the 80s with loud, edgy hard rock influenced by Zeppelin, The Who and a bunch of so-so early 80s power pop. This record however, though it's supposed to be "impressive", is apparently "fake" - the band re-recorded much of the material on a soundstage and then edited together two nights, so the gig outfits, lighting and stage changes, frequently within a single track. There's no doubting the hard rock/hair metal band can play well, but besides the cobbled together editing the audio is somewhat over-compressed, it's filled with splash and bass but somehow doesn't quite sound raw. On the plus side, the pop tune Finish What You Started has a fancy extended blues rock solo, and the rest is pro-level for a live video. . . if that's what this actually is? See more 04/07/2015 I did enjoy this, it just sounds over processed, and over produced. Comparing it to Live Without A Net, it just seemed to be missing that edge. I also could just never get past the fact that they shot it over two nights, and the footage alternates between nights even in the middle of a song, and they are not even wearing the same clothes. More like a video to me than watching a live raw concert. See more Read all reviews
