Cate Blanchett gives another great performance in a movie that doesn't shed much light on its title character.

Gareth v A rather paint by numbers, true story that is carried by Blanchett. It's okay but could of been so much better. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Veronica Guerin is all around just a watchable film. If you have literally nothing else to watch I guess it's worth putting on? It has some really poor elements like the really unneeded text at the start of the film that's written in Calibri for some odd reason, also showing us the end of the film at the start which really doesn't work too great effect here as the ending comes so abruptly and lacks any real emotional edge. Cate Blanchett was ok, her accent was decent but that smirky face got annoying to me. In conclusion, it's nothing more than just a movie, it's got a start middle, and an ending and doesn't entirely butcher any big things but also doesn't do anything new or exactly good. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member A powerful true crime drama, telling a story I was completely unaware of! Blanchett performs masterfully, and is supported by a great cast. Though it doesn't give much of a character backstory, I'm not sure that's reason to mark it down… the focus is clearly on her fight against drugs, not on her whole career. There's enough character development to know what you're watching and why it's important. A well told, enjoyable, and moving true story Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review kevin c Cate Blanchett is Veronica Guerin, a no nonsense journalist who is looking to make an impact with her stories which rubs the drug dealers the wrong way putting her in imminent danger. This is an extremely compelling true story, which is not only interesting and intense but shocking and heartbreaking. Blanchett is phenomenal in this role. Excellent film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member "[...] essa cinebiografia consegue se segurar, mesmo com seus problemas de roteiro, como um filme ok. A direção é competente, a fotografia é decente o suficiente e o longa consegue retratar bem a sua personagem central, contando com uma boa atuação e conseguindo, mesmo com problemas, contar a sua história de maneira compreensível e que destaca a relevância de seus temas." https://galaxiadocinema.home.blog/2019/08/26/o-custo-da-coragem-2003-critica/ Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review steve d Unless you like Cate Blanchett as much as I dislike her, there isn't a lot here to engage you.
