Steve D Lombard isn't given a lot to work with. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/24 Full Review Audience Member This movie was wonderful to watch, I would recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys older black and white films, Carole Lombard is dynamic in this role. This film made me fall in love with early films. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member This rather earnest Anglo-American hospital drama allowed Carole Lombard to prove herself a more serious actress than the 'screwball' roles she was famed for. Despite her remarkable beauty, Lombard had an immensely likable, down-to-earth quality which served her well here. A good supporting cast, and watch out for Peter Cushing in an early, non-sinister performance. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review ashley h Vigil in the Night is an excellent film. It is about Nurse Anne Lee blames herself for a fatal mistake of her sister Lucy, who also is a nurse. Carole Lombard and Anne Shirley give amazing performances. The screenplay is well written. George Stevens did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this motion picture because of the drama. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Heavy dramatics but Carole is strong in the lead, the woman could play in any genre convincingly, with Anne Shirley doing good work as her sister. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Very sentimental and melodramatic, but Carole Lombard somehow makes it work. It?s not a typical role for her, but she?s quite good and gives a very sincere and stoic performance. Brian Aherne is charming as always. Good score that fits with the story.
