Audience Member low-budget cheesefest (so much blood being sprayed in peoples' faces!) started out kind of interesting but quickly fizzled out. mostly bad acting. i did like the scene with the eyeless woman. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member In debuting director Bart Mastronardi's (he also did just about everything else) film, Vindication, young art student Nicolas Bertram (Keith Fraser) becomes hung up on his sad existence, particularly brought upon by his hate-filled father whom he just came out of the closet to, and attempts suicide. His impending death is the least of his worries as his guilt manifests itself into a demonic apparition (played by Mastronardi) that sends Bertram through a hellish ride of regret and remorse, forcing him to face his ghosts, his demons, and eventually his own vicious side which leads to a sizable and decisively gory body count. The film is a slow-burn, using a psychological build-up and intense character study rather than your usual horror film, thus showcasing the talents of a really gifted mind in the film's creator. It's no surprise that the great Clive Barker found enjoyment in Vindication. All of the build-up leads to a great payoff towards the end when all of Bertram's hell breaks loose and brings out the worse in him. This is a spectacular debut from the creator, despite the obvious constraints brought upon by such a low budget. It's intense, harrowing, and extremely unique. It's a shame that films like this will go virtually unnoticed for the rest of humanity, while these horrid, uninspired remakes of stuff like Sorority Row and A Nightmare on Elm Street will forever be rememberd. What a pity! You want something new and exciting, then check out Vindication. Be on the lookout for small roles by up-and-coming underground horror icons such as Alan Rowe Kelly, Joe Zaso, and Raine Browne. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews
