Jake Wilson The Age (Australia) This campy yet unsettling Japanese oddity takes retro to a whole new level, through a technique that is neither live-action nor animation in any usual sense. Aug 9, 2019 Full Review Siddhant Adlakha Village Voice Rife with nods to B-horror and kaiju fare, Violence Voyager is a brutally inventive nightmare born of a singular, disturbing vision. Jul 18, 2018 Full Review Tony Asankomah GhMovieFreak The story itself makes it easier for you to accept and sit through this somewhat unconventional and unique style of animation which feels almost experimental. Rated: 6/10 Oct 28, 2019 Full Review Anthony Gramuglia CBR It is a nightmarish tribute to unreality. Its deliberately artificial animation style and profound violence will alienate many viewers. But it's a good recommendation for those willing to explore the limits of what sci-fi body horror can offer. Oct 9, 2019 Full Review Nathanael Hood Unseen Films Some might be able to stomach the story for the sake of the art, but I can't emphasize this enough: child killing is not my definition of a good time. Rated: 4/10 Dec 27, 2018 Full Review J Hurtado ScreenAnarchy Violence Voyager is an unforgettable experience both in terms of the insanity happening on screen, and the fascinating technical construction of the film. Damian M The art style is unnerving, and almost reminiscent of a fever dream. Its western equivalent would be an R.L Steins screenplay set to fucked up. The animation brings out a playful aura that helps with the deeply disturbing reality that the protagonist gets into. A chilling kaiden tale, that also gives me hints of Kazuo Umezz. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/07/24 Full Review nefasto r Yep, the style is good and unusual, but the story is confusing and pretty disturbing. Sorry but just... no.
