Tyler Doupe Dread Central Steven J. Mihaljevich delivers a slow burn and contemplative affair with ‘Violett’. Marina M Macabre and deeply eerie exploration of the human psyche. It evokes the kind of nightmares you’d rather forget. Though the pacing was a bit slow at the start, every scene unfolds at exactly the right moment, pulling you deeper into her mind. The storytelling, performance and cinematography make you feel her emotions very vividly. This is one of those films that lingers in your mind long after the credits roll. It carries a haunting quality that reminds me of the psychological tension crafted in films such as Shutter Island. A masterclass in atmosphere and emotion, Violett is a must watch for those who crave a slow burn film with profound depth! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/25 Full Review Ian S Good atmosphere and performances, but i found the pace let it down. School report would be 'a good effort'. It did keep me guessing with the Disney references. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/25 Full Review Logan D An ill mother (Georgie Eyers) worries some entity will take her daughter from her. A slow burn film that features disturbing imagery, rich primary colors, and deep shadows. A brooding film that many will find too bleak but I loved it. Eyers is an actress to watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/04/24 Full Review Jason W Writer and director Steven J. Mihaljevich has taken a bold approach to this unique and engaging premise, refusing to be confined by conventional filmmaking norms. This courageous approach is often where breakthroughs are made, as the director experiments with new ways to engage the audience, placing each viewer in the heart of the story as it unfolds. If you're looking for a typical horror film, Violett may not be the best fit. However, if you're open to an unconventional and daring cinematic experience, Violett might be right up your alley. The film's unique exploration of the human mind's intricacies is undeniably captivating. It's no surprise that Violett has received mixed reviews, as it pushes boundaries and challenges viewers from the very beginning. Some may find it too unconventional for their taste, while others will be enthralled by the journey it takes them on. The movie delves into the stark contrast between private thoughts and strained realities, leaving you with a visceral, vertigo-like experience as it blurs the lines between imagination and reality. Violett invites you to unpack a complex puzzle, as it follows the mental turmoil of its protagonist, Sonya, her daughter Violett, and their family. You'll join the pieces together and discover the broader layers of grief, isolation and suspicion cloaking this troubled community. The movie is a thought-provoking experience that will stay with you long after leaving the cinema. In summary, if you're eager to step out of your comfort zone and embrace a film that defies conceptual limitations, Violett is definitely worth checking out. Just be prepared for a non-traditional horror experience that will challenge and engage you in ways you might not expect! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/04/24 Full Review barrel d I would like in it to the Shell of a cake with no sweet bread in the middle and a DOT of icing on top. This was horrible in my opinion and I truly don't understand how it got such great and raving reviews. I'm not hard to please ESPECIALLY when it comes to the horror genre! The Creator tried being edgy and artsy fartsy but there was no art in it but a whole lot of fart Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/02/24 Full Review Audience Member This movie had it all and I mean all the feels!
