Andy Webster New York Times The film may leave you hungry for deeper insight into some its most renowned purveyors. Apr 23, 2015 Full Review Michael Nordine Village Voice Has the feel of a State of the Union for devotees, while also serving as an introduction to washoku culture for outsiders. Apr 22, 2015 Full Review Sheri Linden Los Angeles Times Despite its clumsiness, the film conveys the melding of modern and ancient, sensuous and sacred: On the one hand the foodie-fave Ramen Burger, on the other a chef's paean to the "rhythm" of a bowl of ramen. Apr 9, 2015 Full Review Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat Spirituality & Practice A detailed documentary on sushi's growing popularity. Rated: 3/5 Apr 23, 2015 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member 1/2/17 Amazon Video I have watched a number of documentaries on Japanese cuisine and sake as I am a big fan of both. What strikes me even more than the food part of these films is the personal stories of the men like Mr. Kenai in this movie and Mr. Jiro in Jiro Dreams os sushi. These men are well into their 90's but display a health and vigor that is uncommon. Equally telling is their complete devotion to the perfection of their work, the unequaled quality of their product and the total devotion to world class customer service. That is a common thread in all of the documentaries and the people featured in them. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews
