Gary Goldstein Los Angeles Times There's certainly a profound and valuable documentary to be made about our eldest living senior citizens. Sadly, "Walter: Lessons From the World's Oldest People" isn't it. Rated: 2/5 Oct 10, 2013 Full Review Miriam Bale New York Times The filmmakers are constantly on camera, eating tacos or commenting on the interviews with insight like this: "She's just such a sweet lady. She smiles all of the time." Rated: 2/5 Oct 3, 2013 Full Review Inkoo Kang Village Voice [A] dim-witted and embarrassing first-person documentary ... Oct 1, 2013 Full Review Eric Monder Film Journal International The leisurely, intimate [Walter] could have been truly touching but misses the mark. Audience Member AWFUL. VERY little time actually hearing from these elderly people. So much of the filmmakers own vacuous musings, their process of traveling to these elderly folks, and my goodness! Are were privy to every bit of food they shove into their mouths? This film was terrible disappointment. I was SO looking forward to hearing from these elderly people... instead, we're subjected to shaky home video of the filmmakers talking about themselves, about the making of the film, and eating, eating, eating - starting in their extremely messy apartment. I was very disappointedÂ… and I had been looking forward so much to seeing this film. I took the title literally. My mistake. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews
