Chase Hutchinson The Inlander (Spokane, WA) Feb 19
Taking us into what happens to a group of tiny performers who are now trapped in a studio after the creator of the children's series they starred in died, it's another stop-motion wonder that isn't afraid to get more darkly wacky. Go to Full Review

The model work is magnificent, from the appropriately terrifying design of the TV characters to the careful distinctions in style between that world and the apparent reality of the one in crisis. Go to Full Review

This is a film about a man’s creation of a rich world that serves as his emotional cushion and comfort zone; yet also one that was born out of his loneliness and isolation. Go to Full Review

Jonathan K @aFIREintheattic Apr 13 Wow. Just... wow. This movie is like if your weirdest possible dream got hijacked by a stop-motion wizard who was high on glue. I *think* it’s stop-motion? But who knows, could be sorcery. Either way, it’s a gloriously strange mix of media that shouldn’t work, but totally does. It’s funny in that completely unhinged, laugh-out-loud, “what did I just witness” way. I laughed harder than I expected to, and half the time I didn’t even know why I was laughing. Probably just because it's so delightfully weird. The plot -- or what feels like the specter of a plot -- kind of floats around, leaving gaps, but the good kind. Like, “choose your own explanation” gaps. It’s all so wildly original and visionary, that you end up not caring about logic or resolution. You’re too busy marveling at the sheer guts it took to make something this odd and cool. Honestly, it feels like it came from another dimension. I loved it. See more Mar 4 A sad metaphorical tale on what happens to a franchise when its driving force suddenly exits the picture, leaving behind a bewildered studio and all the little people who made it possible to fend for themselves. Darkly funny, sweetly tragic. A parable for these dark times when so much that we took for granted is suddenly up in the air. See more Dallas H Mar 1 Warning. Do not watch this movie if you're high. Sometimes I found myself overwhelmed by how upsetting this story was but I did admire the unique visual style of it. I did feel when it ended I didn't feel completely fulfilled by it, but I can see how this type of short film has value as it emotionally invested me in such a short amount of time. Overall, it is a tad bit too on the bleak side for me, but I still admire the craft and animation on display quite a bit. See more Read all reviews
