What to Know

Critics Consensus

Jean Reno's efforts aren't enough to add dramatic ballast to Wasabi's bursts of kinetic -- yet frustratingly hollow -- action.

Judith Prescott Hollywood Reporter The movie fails to live up to the sum of its parts. Feb 5, 2003 Full Review Matt Weitz Dallas Morning News The film is a contrivance, as artificial as the video games Japanese teens play in a nightclub sequence, but it's an enjoyable one. Rated: B Nov 14, 2002 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times Reno does what he can in a thankless situation, the film ricochets from humor to violence and back again, and Ryoko Hirosue makes us wonder if she is always like that. Rated: 1.5/4 Oct 20, 2002 Full Review Michael Dequina TheMovieReport.com There's little tension as Reno's character is one of those invincible heroes that we haven't seen much of since the '80s. olive r a bit confusing at parts but overall a good movie, cried a little, and absolutely adored yumi Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/02/24 Full Review Aim B Fantastic. The actors are a perfect fit for their roles. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/03/23 Full Review Antihrist P Pure fun from the golden age of Luc Besson. Great action comedy. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/08/23 Full Review Carlos T Minha opinião: temos aqui Reno interpretando Charles Bronson ou Clint Eastwood, um tira osso duro roer. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review steve d Fun action film with Reno being especially effective.
