Rated: 3/5 Mar 27, 2009 Full Review Mike McGranaghan Aisle Seat I really loved the Watchmen film, and this DVD (as well as the Complete Motion Comic DVD) make for a really wonderful way to experience this extraordinary world. Audience Member These two additional mini-entries/companion pieces really help show just how commited Zack Snyder was to what is arguably his magnum opus. Tales of the Black Freighter has an attention-grabbing animation style and a suitably tragic, horrifying story brought to life by Gerard Butler's narration whilst Under the Hood is an interesting 37-minute-long piece of world building that adds much more depth to this universe. What are essentially glorified special features do a succesful job increasing immersion into this world and solidifying Watchmen's position as one of the best, complex, and possibly most underrated, comic book movies of all time. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review renaldo d I liked the narration, but the animation is nothing spectacular, the lines are not very beautiful Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review johnathon w Excellent companion piece to Zack Snyder's "Watchmen" movie that is quite frankly, better than the film. The "Tales of the Black Freighter" is superb cartoon, with an excellent vocal lead by Gerad Butler, staying faithful to the original comic, while "Under The Hood" is a unique documentary style film, adapting the text pages from the "Watchmen" comic for film. The actors all give solid performances and along with a great production replicating the 1970's, making for a great companion piece that is more faithful than well-made than the original film. Definitely worth checking out, even if the original "Watchmen" movie is a bit of a mess. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member The animation quality is poor but the story and art is straight out of the original Watchmen comic. It was nice to see it adapted. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Hua M Haunting and thought-provoking, this tale beautifully complemented the overall story of Watchmen (in the Ultimate Cut). Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/08/19 Full Review Audience Member From Latin America, save your time, this is political agenda for gringos, it's not fun.
