Audience Member another 'love triangle' drama Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a great film from 1945, John Mills is fantastic as is Stewart Granger as the bad guy trying to steal a soldiers wife whilst he is at war, he then returns to save his marriage,Joy Shelton stars as his wife, the fight scene , at the end whilst the area is being bombed is fantastic, a real classic Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Short, sweet and funny. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member A slight but effective short British feature which highlights the fears and temptations of adultery in the war years, as lonbely newlywed Tillie ends up being courted and nearly seduced by Stewart Granger's Purvis (a vain a-hole basically) after her bland but decent husband John Mills is sent to war. Mills deserts when he is tipped off about his wife's vulnerability and there's some atmospheric fisticuffs. The weakest part is that Joy Shelton's Tillie would find any kind of attraction in Purvis and isn't strong willed enough to say a simple no early in the proceedings - regardless of this it does effectively dramatise fears which must have been in the back of the minds of many young husbands off fighting for their country. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member WW2 story of marital problems - the local cad has set his sights on the wife of a soldier. Fascinating glimpse at the values of a time that isn't really that long ago. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member John Mills' AWOL run is good but lacks a little energy. Sadly Stewart Granger and Alastair Sim are woefully underused. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Read all reviews
